English Pet Peeves

Oo, mapanglait ako pag dating sa English. Aymsosaree, writer kasi ako at sadyang allergic ako sa wrong choice of words at grammar lapses. Hinde naman ako grammar police/ nazi. Hinde naman ako naninita pero utang na loob, laging tatandaan ang mg sumusunod na bagay bagay:

• Ang "poise" at "pose" ay hinde magkapareho. 

Poise - n.

1. A state of balance or equilibrium; stability.

2. Freedom from affectation or embarrassment; composure.

3. The bearing or deportment of the head or body; mien.

4. A state or condition of hovering or being suspended.

Pose - n.
1. A bodily attitude or position, especially one assumed for an artist or a photographer. See Synonyms at posture.
2. A studied attitude assumed for effect.

Isipin mo na lang. Poise ay short for composure at pose ay short for posture.

• Magkaintindihan tayo. Ballad, hinde balad. Leader, hinde Lider. Thank God! Hinde, thanks God! unless na lang kausap mo si Papa God. Yung una ay expression, yung huli ay shortened version ng "Thank you, God" at ginagamit lamang kung si Papa God mismo ang kausap mo. Kung may iba kang kausap at ang nais mong sabihin ay "I thank God", then "Thank God" ang gamitin mo.
• Hinde nakakatuwa ang jejemon na 45 na ang edad. Utang na loob!
• Happy 5th anniversary at HINDE Happy 5th year anniversary. Redundant.
